Bender Ball Boot Camp–week 6–SERIOUSLY???

WEEK SIX?????? SERIOUSLY? Ok I’m partly surprised it’s already six weeks after I started this hairbrained scheme, and then partly SO READY FOR FALL TV KICKOFF WEEK!!!!!!! Woo hoo!! So, to you other Gray’s fans–or is it Grey’s–you know what I’m talking about when I say “seriously”. Anyway, I’m sitting on the couch here with my friend Cooper. He’s very supportive of the blog. Or of me writing it. Because, in an effort to keep Cooper from licking the screen (did I mention he is my four-legged Labrador friend?) I let him have one of his favorite chew treat things. So, he’s really excited that I’m writing. And, we’re simultaneously watching the Titans take the Saints to SCHOOL. I’m telling you. 10-0 Titans and only the first quarter. No sorry, second quarter. So not as impressive. Anyway.

So about my weight loss this past week…yeah, not so great. I didn’t lose ANY. Actually, the first time I got on the scale today, I had gained a half pound. Then, about 30 minutes later, I tried again (have to let the scale “warm up” you know)…back to where I was last week. Just before leaving for work, I looked at Scale one more time and thought “should I tempt fate?” since I do a best 2 out of 3 deal when I weigh on Mondays. Curiosity got the best of me, so I hopped on, and whew…same again as last week. So that’s that. Still a total of 9.5 pounds lost, after SIX weeks! Not where I wanted to be. Trying to figure out where I went wrong this week. Let’s see…

Joined Leslee, Stella, and BBK Monday-Wednesday in some fab workouts. Again, switching it up a bit while Shuffle pumps out the classic Britney, among other hits. I still don’t have the purple oven mitt glider things, but hoping for those any day now. Maybe they’ll jump-start my routine? Thursday was Bob Dylan–which was AWESOME. So that’s about where my working out stopped for the week. Cool Kittie and I decided, for time’s sake (and well let’s face it, for our tastebuds’ sake) to eat at Jack’s BBQ which is right next to the Ryman. SO yummy…buttery green beans, creamy potato salad, warm sweet cornbread, and the juiciest BBQ I’ve had in a long time. Should have worn some elastic-waist pants, or at least one of my knit “tent dresses”, instead of painted-on jeans. Oh the sacrifices I make for style. Then of course I get my arm easily twisted (doesn’t take much) to go to “happy hour” on Friday…which is actually about 6pm-11pm at least, in my book. Good times. Then to help a friend celebrate her birthday on Saturday night, I “assisted” with the keg, a few glasses of wine, and more keg beer as a mean game of flip cup commenced. I do what I can you know. To help out. It’s really important.

So I think that might help solve the “mystery” that is me not losing weight this week. I must get serious this week. Seriously…which leads me to 2007 Fall TV Premiere Week!!!!! I have a grueling schedule ahead of me. Which starts at 8 most nights, so well after my workouts! No excuses. Tonight, I would be watching Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor (ok I have to watch at least the first ep of this horrid show. Guilty pleasure I have to admit.) but the fact that the Titans are playing their first Monday night football game in over 3 years has temporarily handicapped everyone–including ABC–in the city. So that means they have moved the aforementioned 2 shows to like 2am or something. Good thing I have DVR.

The rest of the week plays out like so: Tuesday, nothing. Wednesday is packed…I’m giving THREE new shows a chance! Private Practice, the much-anticipated spin-off of Gre(a)y’s; Gossip Girl (technically premiered last week–smart move, b/c I’m now hooked) and Dirty Sexy Money. All shows that look right up my alley. Thursday is a “classic”–Gre(a)y’s Anatomy* and The Office. Man, I can’t WAIT to see what happens with Jim and Pam! They had better hook up this season or I will quickly tire of the situation. Friday–ok I’m embarrassed to say I watch this, but I have to–it’s about my city–Nashville. It’s along the lines of The Bachelor on shows-that-I-watch-through-a-blanket because they are so embarrassing, but I watch nonetheless. Actually, DVR lets me fast forward so that’s really how I get through the train wreck. Saturday, nothing (usually at some point in the day is when I fast-forward through Nashville, The Hills, Best Week Ever, etc.). Sunday is Desperate Housewives* and Brothers and Sisters. So you see how my week is jam-packed.

Now, I typically only give new shows a 3-week run before I decide to cut ties or jump on the bandwagon. As some of you well know, I am probably the only person on the whole planet Earth that started watching Lost at the pilot episode (I actually got Laura hooked despite how “stupid” she said it looked) and then ditched it after episode 3. It just never won me over. So now I have zero interest, and I’m pretty happy about that, because I see how worked up everyone gets over “the others” and “the hatch” and the whole “back of the plane people” or whatever they are called, and I breathe a sigh of relief that I am not one of those people (the people hooked on Lost, not from the back of the plane–well, both I guess). Because I would so easily be drawn to all the websites, blogs, fake companies and whatnot that have surfaced in effort to “figure out” this show…anyway. So, you see how my schedule may change up mid-season. It’s tough being a TV watcher these days I tell you…

*Gre(a)y’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives are inching closer to my chopping block. If they don’t have killer first episodes, I may drop them from my line-up after the first game. I mean show. Sorry, still watching the Titans.
